What is Coil Coating?

Coil coating is a highly efficient process used to apply protective or decorative coatings to metal coils, such as stainless steel or aluminum, before they are fabricated. When combined with plastic film and adhesive, the result is a sophisticated composite material that merges the inherent strength of metal with the aesthetic and protective benefits of specialized coatings. These coatings are typically composed of a base resin, crosslinker, pigments, fillers, additives, and volatile components. Depending on its specific application, a coil coating can be categorized as a primer, back coat, or top coat.

HMMAT® Matting Agents

Matting agents are functional materials primarily used to reduce the gloss of coatings or surface materials, thereby creating a desired matte or non-reflective effect. By carefully controlling how light is diffused rather than directly reflected, matting agents yield a softer, more uniform surface appearance, serving both decorative and functional purposes in various applications.

HMMAT® matting agents are **silica-based** and are widely utilized across diverse industries. Their applications include furniture coatings, UV-cured bamboo and wood floor coatings, coil coatings, plastic coatings, UV casing coatings, leather surface treatment agents, inks, and plastic products. For applications specifically within **coil coatings**, we primarily recommend our matting agents with medium to coarse particle sizes to achieve optimal performance.
